Walthamstow Loft Starts on Site

Another of our projects has started on site, creating two double bedrooms with high ceilings, and an accompanying shower room. This is a 'hip-to-gable' extension, where the existing side-sloping tiled roof is removed and the brick side wall of the house is built up to form a triangular gable end, creating a significant amount of useable space in the roof. A dormer extension is also being built to the rear, creating yet more habitable space. The entirety of the building work is being carried out without the need for a full planning application, because it falls under 'Permitted Development' (PD) rules.
PD rules allow certain kinds of work, to certain houses, in certain areas (lots of caveats!) to be carried out without the cost, unpredictability, and delay of a planning application.
